Big California Minimum Wage Increase

California’s legislature has approved a bill for a 25% increase in the minimum wage over the next two years. The bill increases the minimum wage in the state from $8.00 an hour to $9.00 an hour on July 1, 2014 which will then again increase to $10.00 an hour on January 1, 2016.

California’s minimum wage is the eighth-highest in America and the increase in minimum wage will most likely move the state to the top of the list.

Governor Brown is a strong supporter of this bill and has stated that he will sign it into law.
