Paid Sick Leave Laws by State
While there is no federal paid sick leave law for private employers, seventeen states and Washington, D.C., currently have mandatory paid sick leave laws: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C.
In addition, three states have mandatory paid leave for any reason laws: Illinois, Maine, and Nevada.
