2015 Canada Minimum Wage
Published on November 20, 2014
Canada has both federal and provincial minimum wages, but only about 10% of employees are covered by federal labor laws. Most workers are covered by the employment laws of the province or territory they work in.
The Federal Minimum Wage rate is the general adult minimum wage rate of the province or territory where the work is performed. When a provincial or territorial government raises its minimum wage, the federal rate for that province or territory is automatically increased.
Federal jobs include transportation, financial services, telecommunications and broadcasting, banking and other federal employees.
Provincial minimum wage rates apply to all non-federal jobs, either in the private or government-regulated areas.
