Florida Minimum Wage Increase on September 30, 2025

On Sept. 30, 2025, Florida’s minimum wage rises to $14 ($10.98 for tipped employees). Employers must post the updated state poster once released. GovDocs helps businesses stay compliant with these changes through poster updates and wage tracking tools.
Effective September 30, 2025, Florida will raise their minimum wage to $14 from $13 with the tipped wage rising to $10.98 from $9.98.
How does Florida Set Their Minimum Wage?
Back in November of 2020, constituents of the Sunshine State voted to pass a constitutional amendment to gradually increase the state’s minimum wage every year by $1 until it hits $15 on Sept. 30, 2026. The minimum wage will then increase based on the applicable consumer price index, or CPI-W, starting on Jan. 1, 2028, and annually thereafter.
What does this mean for Tipped Employees?
Florida employers with employees who qualify as a tipped worker may take a tip credit of $3.02. If they do, the base wage must be $10.98, effective Sept. 30, 2025.
Does Florida Have a Posting Requirement?
Yes, Florida’s minimum wage law states the following:
“Each employer who must pay an employee the Florida minimum wage shall prominently display a poster substantially similar to the one made available pursuant to subsection (3) in a conspicuous and accessible place in each establishment where such employees are employed.”
This poster is generally released by Florida near the end of September or beginning of October. The minimum wage poster offers quite a bit of information for employers and employees, including historical minimum wage rates, retaliation protection, civil action filing, and penalty information.
Once this poster has been released by Florida’s Department of Labor, GovDocs will ship updated posters to impacted customers part of GovDocs Standard Update Program.
How Can You Stay Compliant this Year?
One of the most challenging obstacles to staying compliant with wage rate increases, like Florida’s, is tracking. GovDocs provides customers with the Minimum Wage Solution that tracks complex and non-complex jurisdictions, while also providing important statutory and regulatory content, ensuring companies don’t miss important information that could be costly in the long run.
