  • Education, work, and job training resources
  • Tax benefits
  • How to obtain a veteran designation on a state driver’s license or personal identification card
  • Unemployment benefits under both state and federal law
  • Legal services
  • Phone number and website for the state department of military and veterans affairs
  • Phone number, website, and veterans crisis line for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Michigan’s Labor Law Poster Release Timeline

HB 5736 also requires Michigan’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to work with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to create and release a labor law poster complying with the new requirements.

Since HB 5736 was recently passed at the start of the new year, the new poster has not been released by the applicable agency just yet. However, the GovDocs Compliance Team is actively monitoring for the posting release. It will be part of the GovDocs Standard Update program and sent to impacted customers in Michigan.

The Growing Trend of Veterans’ Resource Posters

Michigan is the most recent state to join the new trend requiring employers to display a new veterans’ benefits and services poster. The trend began with New York at the start of 2023, with states like Minnesota, Indiana, and New Hampshire, quickly following suit and passing similar laws in the following two years. And since the start of 2025, two other states, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, also released new posters with veterans’ resources.

How Employers Can Stay Compliant

As this trend continues to grow with more states passing new posting requirements for veterans’ resources, employers need to ensure they keep up with all the poster changes. Employers can rest assured that they are receiving these new and updated posters with the GovDocs Labor Law Poster Program
