May 2026 Poster Spotlight

A highlight of several recent labor law poster releases that employers should know about, brought to you by the GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance Team.

In this monthly series, the GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance Team highlights three recent labor law poster releases that employers need to know about.

Los Angeles County Minimum Wage Poster

Earlier this year, Los Angeles County announced that its minimum wage will increase from $17.81 to $18.47 on July 1, 2026. Employers are further prohibited from taking a tip credit under California’s minimum wage law, so the tipped employee wage rate will also increase to $18.47 on July 1, 2026. Accordingly, the County’s minimum wage poster has been updated to reflect these changes.

As a reminder, Los Angeles County’s minimum wage only applies to employees who perform at least two hours of work per week within the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County minimum wage does not apply to the County’s 88 incorporated cities.

The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs requires employers to display its minimum wage poster at any workplace or jobsite within the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. The poster must also be at least 8 ½ inches by 14 inches in size and printed in a minimum 10-point font.

The GovDocs Standard Update Program is currently shipping new minimum wage posters to impacted customer locations in unincorporated Los Angeles County.

Vermont Meals and Lodging Poster

Vermont released a new meals and lodging poster for 2026. The poster provides the following update:

Effective January 1, 2026 – An employer shall be entitled to deduct from the wages earned an allowance for meals and lodging actually furnished and accepted as follows:

  • Lunch $4.41 daily
  • Dinner $4.91 daily
  • Full board $13.24 daily or $92.68 per week
  • Nightly Lodging $5.41 daily
  • Full Room $32.56 weekly
  • Full Room and Board $112.41 per week

Vermont’s new meals and lodging poster must be displayed by all employers in the state. There are no additional language or sizing requirements.

GovDocs is shipping updated posters to impacted customers in Vermont, and the posters will also be included in the GovDocs Intranet Poster Program.

Washington, D.C.’s Time Off to Vote Poster

Approximately twice a year, Washington D.C. updates its paid leave for voting poster during the primary and general election cycles. The poster describes dates and times of voting, an employee’s right to take at least two hours of paid leave to vote, and additional employer obligations. Accordingly, the District updated the time off to vote poster for the 2026 Primary Election in early April.

The poster updated to include new dates and times of voting, notably early voting from June 8, 2026 through Sunday, June 14, 2026, between 8:30am-7:00pm, and election day voting on June 16, 2026, between 7:00am-8:00pm.

To comply with the posting deadline of 60 days before the election, the GovDocs Standard Update Program shipped the new time off to vote posters to impacted customer locations in the District prior to the regular end of month shipments, so posters should have already reached their destinations.
