Labor Law Poster Spotlight: Important New Posters from Massachusetts, Montana, and Tukwila
By Dana Holle, GovDocs Counsel and Manager
A highlight of several recent labor law poster releases that employers should know about, brought to you by the GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance Team.
In this monthly series, the GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance Team highlights three recent labor law poster releases that employers need to know about.
Massachusetts’ Paid Family and Medical Leave Poster
Massachusetts revised the “Benefits” section of its Paid Family and Medical Leave posting.
Under Massachusetts law, the maximum weekly benefits for paid family and medical leave are adjusted annually to 64% of the state average weekly wage and take effect next Jan. 1. Accordingly, the weekly benefit rate section updated on the poster to state, “A covered individual’s average weekly earnings will determine his or her benefit amount, for a maximum weekly benefit of up to $1,230.39.” However, the paid family and medical leave contribution rate in 2026 remains at .88% for employers with 25 or more covered individuals and .46% for employers with less than 25, so the contribution rate was not updated on the poster this year.
The Massachusetts’ Paid Family and Medical Leave poster is required to be displayed by all employers in the Bay State. Both GovDocs Update Program and Spanish Update Program customers will receive updated posters for their Massachusetts locations.
Montana’s No Smoking Poster
Back in the spring of 2025, Governor Greg Gianforte of Montana signed SB 390, revising the state’s Clean Indoor Air Act and the definition of smoking under Montana law. Effective immediately upon enacting SB 390 on May 8, 2025, e-cigarettes and vaping are no longer allowed in Montana’s enclosed public spaces. Enclosed public spaces include, but are not limited to, restaurants, stores, public and private office buildings, health care facilities, arenas, and places of work that are enclosed.
Montana’s No Smoking poster must be displayed by all employers and posted at all public entrances. The GovDocs Standard Update Program is currently shipping updated No Smoking posters to impacted customer locations in Montana.
Tukwila, WA’s Minimum Wage Poster
As of Jan. 1, 2026, Tukwila takes the crown for the highest standard minimum wage in the United States at $21.65 per hour. The poster underwent a significant reformat because the minimum wage is no longer separated between large and mid-size employers. Now, there is only one standard minimum wage for covered employers in the city. A QR code was also added to the bottom right corner of the poster.
Tukwila’s Minimum Wage poster is required for all employers with 15 or more employees worldwide. GovDocs is shipping updated minimum wage posters in English and Spanish out to impacted customers, and the posters will also be included in the GovDocs Intranet Poster Program.
