GovDocs’ Response to New EEOC Labor Law Poster

Shipments of the updated EEOC posters are already heading to clients’ locations the week of Nov. 14, 2022.

EAGAN, MINN. (Nov. 14, 2022) — When the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) last month announced an unanticipated federal labor law poster update, GovDocs sprang into action.

On Oct. 19, 2022, the day the change was announced, the company posted information about the new EEOC Know Your Rights Poster on its blog, with an email about the update sent to both clients and contacts the next day.

The GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance team researched the change and its impact on customers; Client Services answered questions and provided timelines; Production and Fulfillment put a plan in place to get new posters out the door; and additional support came from all departments.

By Oct. 21, 2022, the new federal poster was available to clients of the GovDocs Intranet Poster Program. And shipments of updated physical posters — printed on biodegradable material — are already heading to clients’ locations the week of Nov. 14, 2022, in the applicable formats:

  • State and Federal Combined posters (English and Spanish)
  • Federal-on-One posters (English and Spanish)

“It had been about six years since the last time a federal posting has updated, and the EEOC posting language came without any advance notice,” said Zach Stabenow, founder and CEO of GovDocs, one of the nation’s leading providers of labor law posters to Fortune 500 companies. “It was remarkable to see our team come together and answer the bell so quickly and organized, providing peace of mind for our clients and allowing them to focus on other tasks during this busy time of year.”

Changes to the EEOC Poster

The new Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal poster updates and replaces the previous EEO is the Law poster. Covered employers are required to display it at their locations.

The new EEOC Know Your Rights poster includes the following changes:

  • Harassment is a prohibited form of discrimination
  • Sex discrimination includes bias based on pregnancy and related conditions, sexual orientation or gender identity
  • A new QR code directing people to a webpage on how to file charges
