A highlight of several recent labor law poster releases that employers should know about, brought to you by the GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance Team.

In this monthly series, the GovDocs Employment Law and Compliance Team highlights three recent labor law poster releases that employers need to know about.

District of Columbia’s Minimum Wage Poster

On September 3, 2025, Washington, D.C., passed the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Support Emergency Act. The Act repeals Initiative 82, a voter-approved ballot measure phasing out the tipped minimum wage over the next several years.

As a result, the tipped minimum wage no longer increases to $12 in 2025. Instead, the tipped minimum wage will remain at $10 until its next increase on July 1, 2026. D.C.’s Minimum Wage poster has updated to reflect the tipped employee wage remaining at $10 in the District.

Washington, D.C.’s Minimum Wage poster is required to be posted in the workplace by all employers. The GovDocs Labor Law Poster Program is shipping updated minimum wage posters out to impacted customers with locations in D.C.

Virginia’s Safety and Health Protection on the Job Poster

Virginia updated the penalty amounts on its Safety and Health Protection on the Job poster.  Now, the Proposed Penalty section states that mandatory penalties against private sector employers for each serious violation of the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health law (VOSH) and optional penalties for other-than-serious violations are $16,287 (up from $15,875). Penalties for failure to correct violations within the allotted time also increase to $16,287. And willful and repeated violations of VOSH by the employer may result is penalties of up to $162,849 for each violation (up from $158,725).

Virginia’s Safety and Health Protection on the Job posting is required to be displayed by all employers in the Old Dominion. Both GovDocs Update Program and Spanish Update Program customers will receive updated posters for their Virgina locations.

Georgia’s Bill of Rights for the Injured Worker Poster

In Georgia, the state’s Bill of Rights for the Injured Worker poster, i.e., workers’ compensation, updated with revised weekly benefit amounts for injured workers under certain circumstances.

Specifically, when an injured worker in a non-catastrophic accident is not working and its determined that they have been capable of performing work with restrictions for 52 consecutive weeks or 78 aggregate weeks, the weekly income benefits are reduced to two-thirds of the average weekly wage capped at $533 per week.

When someone returns to work but can only get a lower paying job because of the injury, they are entitled to a weekly benefit of no more than $533 per week.

Georgia’s workers compensation poster is required for employers with 3 or more employees. GovDocs is shipping updated Georgia posters out to customers with locations in the state, and the posters will also be included in the GovDocs Intranet Poster Program.
